What is breast cancer?
Breast cancer is a disease
that can be treated and often cured if detected early. It also has different
stages that are crucial to understanding the gravity of the diagnosis, some of
which can be asymptomatic so it may not be diagnosed until late in its progression.
Breast cancer is the
second most common type of cancer in women and men, behind lung cancer. AIG is
the one who is giving breast cancer
treatment Hyderabad In 2017 it was estimated to have over 500 thousand new
cases worldwide with over 220 thousand deaths occurring from breast cancer. Of
these deaths, 80% are in developing countries while breast cancer only accounts
for 3% of the global cancer burden. The number of annual cases worldwide is
estimated to increase from 1.7 million in 2017 to over 2 million in 2025, which
will make it the second most common cause of cancer deaths in women. In India,
breast cancer has the highest incidence among women with an estimated 140
thousand new cases and over 100 thousand deaths occurring annually..

Breast cancer can progress
into 5 categories depending on how early or late it is diagnosed:
(not all stages are
mutually exclusive)
Worldwide, breast cancer
is the most commonly diagnosed form of female cancer and most commonly fatal
orduring life. A woman's lifetime risk of developing breast cancer is 1 in 8
while 5-year survival rates are 99% in the United States which is among the
highest of all cancers.
Ovarian cancer is the
leading cause of death from gynaecologic cancers and in 2014, an estimated
220,250 new cases and 155,210 deaths are expected to occur worldwide. Breast
cancer refers to any abnormal cell growth (malignant) in the tissues of the
breast whereas ovarian cancer refers specifically to tumours that start in the
tissues surrounding or part of an ovary. It was previously known as
"women's cancer" due to it being almost exclusive to women and
particularly to women over 50 years old.
